Sam Houston Area Council is committed to making Scouting accessible to youth that may not be able to join a traditional unit. Scoutreach is an after-school Scouting program for our youth right at their school. The Scouts receive all of the same opportunities as a traditional unit, including summer camp, resident camp, and community service. Qualified volunteers, call the Scoutreach Corps, assist paid program specialists with teaching providing Scouts with high-quality Scouting experiences in elementary, middle schools, and community centers throughout the greater Houston area.
Prepare for launch as we count down to lift-off, 2020: A Scout Odyssey! Cub Scouts and their families will learn new skills and make new friends. Twilight camp is a council camp organized by districts and conducted by volunteers from the local area for Cub Scouts entering 1st through 5th grade for the next school year. Twilight camp is a week of fun with awesome programs and activities such as archery, sports, STEM, games and crafts, rank advancements, Scout skills, fun and more.
Many volunteers are needed to make camp a success, so please consider volunteering. Adult volunteers can also register their non-Scouting children ages 3-5 (potty trained). Scouts in troops, crews and ships can also volunteer. An adult/guardian must register with a Tiger Cub (1st grader). The registration fee includes a t-shirt, patch, program supplies, and water bottle.

Scoutreach Corps is a way for Scouters, Eagle Scouts, parents, and Scouting alumni to give back to Scouting by donating their skills to help our most needy Scouts. Donate a few hours, a day, or a weekend to help directly with 7,000 Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts enrolled in the Sam Houston Area Council’s ScoutReach program. Volunteers are needed to help with Cub Scout and Boy Scout meetings, weekend events (e.g., pinewood derby, cuboree, camporee), weekend camping and summer camp.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age, take Youth Protection Training online at www.my.scouting.org every two years, and complete a BSA Scout application. If you we're ever a Boy Scout, an Eagle Scout, current or past Scouting volunteer, or are experienced with working with youth, then you have the necessary skills.
