Scoutreach Corps is a way for Scouters, Eagle Scouts, parents, and Scouting alumni to give back to Scouting by donating their skills to help our most needy Scouts. Donate a few hours, a day, or a weekend to help directly with 7,000 Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts enrolled in the Sam Houston Area Council’s Scoutreach program.
Since Scoutreach was established in 2000, over 400 Scout packs, troops, and crews directed by paid program specialists have been started in elementary, middle schools, and community centers throughout the greater Houston area. To ensure our Scouts get the best program possible, the Sam Houston Area Council sponsors monthly campouts, summer camp, pinewood derbies, and other great events. Scoutreach Corps identifies qualified volunteers to assist with teaching providing Scouts with high-quality Scouting experiences.
Requirements. Scoutreach Corps members must be 21 years of age, take Youth Protection Training online at www.my.scouting.org every two years, and complete a BSA adult volunteer application. If you were ever a Boy Scout, an Eagle Scout, current or past Scouting volunteer, or are experienced with working with youth, then you have the necessary skills to be in the Scoutreach Corps.
Contacts. For more information, contact Lionel Jellins, SHAC Vice Chairman for Scoutreach, at email@example.com.
