Sam Houston Area Council is committed to making Scouting accessible to youth that may not be able to join a traditional unit. Scoutreach is an after school Scouting program for our youth right at their school. The Scouts receive all of the same opportunities as a traditional unit, including monthly campout, summer camp, pinewood derbies and community service. Qualified volunteers, call the Scoutreach Corps, assist paid program specialists with teaching providing Scouts with high-quality Scouting experiences in elementary, middle schools, and community centers throughout the greater Houston area.
Scoutreach Corps is a way for Scouters, Eagle Scouts, parents, and Scouting alumni to give back to Scouting by donating their skills to help our most needy Scouts. Donate a few hours, a day, or a weekend to help directly with 7,000 Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts enrolled in the Sam Houston Area Council’s ScoutReach program. Volunteers are needed to help with Cub Scout and Boy Scout meetings, weekend events (e.g., pinewood derby, cuboree, camporee), weekend camping and summer camp.
Volunteers must be 21 years of age, take Youth Protection Training online at www.my.scouting.org every two years, and complete a BSA Scout application. If you we're ever a Boy Scout, an Eagle Scout, current or past Scouting volunteer, or are experienced with working with youth, then you have the necessary skills.
