About Us

The Sam Houston Area Council is committed to making sure that all young boys have an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.​

The Scoutreach Division is a non-traditional school based program. Scouting paraprofessionals support units in select schools in the Aldine ISD, Alief ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Houston ISD, Lamar ISD, North Forest ISD, and Spring Branch ISD.

SHAC council shoulder stripThe Sam Houston Area Council, BSA, serves nearly 60,000 youth in 16 counties southeast Texas area through dedicated service and leadership of nearly 20,000 adult volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of our local communities.

The purpose of the council is to guide and support its districts for the achievement of the movement’s purpose. Councils establish policies and programs. Districts carry out the policies and programs in their respective territories. Your support of Scouting provides programs, services, professional support, as well as year-round outdoor programs - all designed to lead youth to lifelong values, service, and achievement.

About the BSA
